Movie reviews in one word:

  • Slumdog Millionaire - perfect
  • Revolutionary Road - aesthetic

Danny Boyle is a genius. Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, (2/3s of ) Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire? What an eclectic mix of great movies.

... And I find myself awake at 9:15AM on a Saturday morning. How I desperately miss being able to sleep in.

Playoff picks: Panthers, Ravens, Giants, Chargers

Belated reaction... Danny Boyle is a good director but I wouldn't call him a genius. I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire so Trainspotting still stands, for me, as his best film. I'm glad he wasn't working with Alex Garland on this one though and I hope it's the end of their collaboration; I disliked both The Beach and 28 Days Later (two fairly run-of-the-mill movies once you get past the New Age and zombie trips). One of his strengths, as with many British directors, is the genuineness behind his portrayal of normal people, people you can easily identify with, so hopefully he'll get better scripts in that direction. I am more impressed by Sam Mendes's and David Fincher's work actually, have you seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?
