Some more thoughts

The movie has made it very clear that it is about three things:
1.) Control structure
2.) Fate
3.) Choices

I think a lot of people are missing the point when they argue over the 'control structure' of the secondary matrix. I don't believe Neo and the crew are within a 'matrix' of a matrix; I really do believe that the machines have a physical control over the humans; they murder the humans every hundred years in Zion to purge the 0.0001% who reject the Matrix and then eliminate any memory of the attack from the minds of humans. After all, if no one remembers it, did it really happen?

I think the bigger question that has to be answered is whether people living in the 'real world' as well as the Matrix are fated or whether they have a choice. This is the bigger question posed in my opinion by the brothers. The computers and those people living in the Matrix seem to be quite fatalist - all the programs are happy to serve their purpose in some grater scheme, then die (e.g. the Keymaker). Of course, the reason why this is important is because the fatalist attitude ties in with what the Matrix architect told Neo - that this had happened before. The Prophecy was simply something perpetuated by the Matrix system; the man who was born within the system and was allowed to do anything ('Neo') was also the destroyer of the previous Matrix.

On this level, the more I think about it, the more the brothers failed to develop this theme. Multiple characters talked about choices in the movie than of anything else, but at the end of the movie, I really didn't get the impression that it was important.

Ok, so I'll have more random brain farts about the Matrix as the day goes on.

But this one wasn't very confusing at all. I had to watch the original Matrix at least twice to understand half of what was happening. This one was more action-packed and straightforward.
