mr. yuppie upgrades his shtuff
My computer speakers (Logitechs) burned out earlier this week. Not surprising, since I had those speakers since college-ish. (A solid 6+ years). I ordered a new set from Amazon, and holy crap are they NICE! The quality is noticeably better than my old ones - and the bass is way more thumpy.
So much thumpy, in fact, that tonight, as I was working, it made the monitor cable get a bit loose (I was listening to Daft Punk's new "Tron: Legacy" soundtrack), which caused all the text on my screen to get blurry.
I'm feeling pretty good right now - good music makes me happy.
. . .
And while I'm updating on pointless purchases, I also upgraded my bed. It had been a good while since I got that mattress (I believe my parents got it for me before I moved).
When I started looking at new mattresses, I wanted to upgrade to a queen (full-sized seems so college-y). But the price differential from upgrading the full -> queen wasn't that much less than full -> king. Since I'm buying something that should last me for the next 8 years, I went with a nice king-sized bed (Stearns & Foster).
Let me just say that mattress shopping is so stressful. More stressful than car shopping. At least car shopping is noticeably fun (Ooh, for an extra $10K i get this shiny whiz-bang!). With mattress buying, the guy brings over this sample "spring" box (or supermattresscoil, which is apparently some newfangled technology) and tries to make a mattress sound high-tech.
I'm pretty sure I got burned on the pricing, but whatever. I looked on eBay briefly and it was within range of what I was paying, so I didn't feel so bad.
