The 55 gallon aquarium is gone. In its place:

I'm going to start easy (Moonlight Sonata 1st movement, various Chopin Nocturnes, Debussy's "Claire de Lune", Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata), but I intend to progress into more technically difficult pieces by mid-2009 (3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata, Chopin's "Ocean Etude", Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude").

The goal is to eventually play Liszt's "La Campanella." Let's see how long this reinvigoration lasts.

My mom has always loved piano ... I think it'll be nice for me to try to put together an audio recording of me fumbling through various pieces for her next birthday in the summertime. That's a very reasonable goal.

Currently listening to: Vladimir Horowitz's interpretation of the 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata

I totally know what you mean about digital vs real...I went to the store the other day and looked at electronic drum sets and it just isn't the same at all. On a side note you totally forgot some of the other classics, like "Mary had a little lamb" You can leave that out.

HECK NO! I tried playing digital ... the kickback SUCKS. i mean, they've made great advanced in the sound ... but seriously, i need to feel the hammer or it just feels totally wrong (i play very much by feel, especially for the slower nocturnes)

yeah, if you look closely, you can still see i've left the wrapping on the pedals cause i'm too lazy. ROY NEVER GETS ON HIS KNEES.

neither would I with that nasty looking stain in front of the pedals.

At least get a baby grand disklavier instead of some used player. It's the best of both worlds. Don't you have a geek reputation to uphold?
Comment posted on October 12th, 2008 at 06:30 PM
well, this one isn't used (so i got ripped off), but i can't fit a baby grand in my place. also, when i move, i don't feel like trying to figure out how to move teh baby ... this thing literally just wheels out of my place, no problemo.

once i get good enough, i can probably rent time (an hour or so) at the local piano shops to play on better pianos...
