new laptop
If you're looking to buy a laptop, you cannot go wrong with the $750 sale on the IBM/Lenovo Stinkpad Z60t. A very good price on a very decent laptop from a very reputable company (you can't go wrong buying IBM Thinkpads). It comes with a three year systems part warranty, but I'd recommend buying one of those extended batteries from IBM - this thing will probably only have ~3 hours of battery life (if that).

i've been looking around for laptops for college but could only find dells that were cheap. but all my friends said dells are really bad.
anyways, do you know if this deal has an expiration date? i want to buy it, but i don't want to rush into it without getting some more feedback from other people. but if it expires soon, i guess i'll just buy it right away. thanks again!

i'm not sure if there's an expiration on this - i'm sure there is.
as for your battery question, i picked up the extra 7 cell as well as an extra 512MB RAM ($80 is not a bad deal for boosting from 512 to 1gb ram). thing cost me about $950, but given the high quality builds of thinkpads, i still think it's a very solid deal.

2GB Ram (512mb/ea x4), AMD 4200x2, PCI-E slots -- easily upgradable PSU and Graphic Card.
However this was priced before the price cuts on x2's after the Conroe release. You might be able to find a better deal yet building a custom.
