For all of you who understand so far what today's started looking like:

This flash movie is for you

To the superstitious group of you, apologies. I probably "jinxed" it.

i wanted to ask... why are you using fidelity?

aren't the commissions really expensive?
Comment posted on May 16th, 2006 at 08:10 PM
yes, they are expensive. $20/trade. i opened my IRA there, and the money sorta got stuck there. i ended up opening my general investment fund there too just because i like their site.

in any case, i'm not going to be doing a lot of trading, and i'm soon gonna qualify for $10/trade, so it's not a *huge* deal to me right now.

do you get access their stock research? i like looking at their reports just to see what analysts are thinking before i buy something.

yes, that's primarily why i stay with them. they've got reports for a lot of analysts (as well as the extended reuters information in a nice pdf).

is your company big enough to offer 401k? you could suggest that they go with fidelity and negotiate special rates for you guys (everyone @ my company gets gold level b/c our 401k is there).

The company doesn't offer a 401K ... it's a startup company... not exactly flush with money ;)
