How many of you keep a daily to-do list? Do you write it down physically or do you keep it online? Do you have an 'extended' to-do list (more like week-long goals and such)? Do you use any software for this?

Thanks a bunch!

when i feel overwhelmed by all the things i need to do, i write them down so that i can start feeling better about myself when i check things off.

i used to write it on a cube of paper and write down due dates next to each task.

these days things get written down in MS OneNote or in a real notebook. the notebook gets quite cluttered tho, and occasionally when i turn the page, i forget to look backwards at what i've got to also do :)

I've tried a variety of methods, from notebook lists, to bulletin board calendars, to weekly organizers, to huge month-at-a-glace monstrosities. Problem is, I often forget to write the stuff down, so eventually all these methods fail. It is truly amazing that I get anything accomplished. I really do need to become more organized. :/

it's on a sheet of paper. my to do list always gets bigger and bigger and never has any deadlines. i spend more time actually writing and thinking about my to-do list than actually doing anything on it. i have fun crossing things off so i put everything on it, like..."take a shower" or "check mail". If the list gets messy, i spend more time re-writing it on a fresh sheet of paper. If you're interesting in making software for this kind of problem, perhaps a robot will be much more effective. yeah...spend more time on making a robot.

not like a to-do list, but more of a schedule type thing...
like for today this is what i'm going to do:
[3:30-4:30] food // study for bio
[4:30-5:30] english essay
[5:30-7:30] nap
[7:30-8] food
[8-12] english essay

and i put that on a lil electronic post-it that goes on my desktop. free software u can dL it here:

My $.02...I use Microsoft Outlook. It allows for a calendar & task reminder. You can schedule projects, due dates, and repetitive tasks. Useful, to me at least.

You use some software on the PDA itself?

There's a calendar organiser for the Palm OS, so you can key in your to-do list and when it's due. Of course the setback is when you don't put a due-date the task doesn't come up on the main calendar page.

I always have a to-do list for work. The long term ones go on the whiteboard and daily ones go into my notebook. It's the only way I get everything done.

I'm confused. Why are you trying to get an IP to map to your site?

I've just recently rediscovered my Palm (an m125 because I am a sucker for faceplates) and have been using the built-in programs. I suck at checking lists, but if the list beeps annoyingly at me, I can actually get places on time. I remember to take it with me because it has a game called Space Trader that has stolen my brain.

I also keep a textfile of website-related To Do stuff on my desktop, where it reminds me whenever I log on. Other than that, I just rely on organised people bossing around my disorganised self.

haha. is there a particular program on the pda you use to organize your stuff?

Just the To Do List and Date Book progs that come with PalmOS. Date Book has four views: day, week, month, and (my personal favourite) a split screen that has the day's schedule on top and To Do List entries below that. I already rely on that combined view a little too much.

Memo Pad (another built-in Palm function) is good for longer-term stuff, but I'm finding I have to use Date Book or To Do List, or I'll forget I have the other list. Heh.

Most definitely. I mostly use two programs on my laptop because I always have my laptop with me.

rainlendar: <a href="http://www.ipi.fi/~rainy/index.php?pn=projects&project=rainlendar">shortened link</a> [www.ipi.fi]

I use this for appointments, schedules, and deadlines. I'm currently using a skin that mimics the dashboard calendar widget on osx. Its FREE.

atnotes:
<a href="http://atnotes.fr.st/">http://atnotes.fr.st/</a>

I use this for general sticky note type things like.. "don't forget to pick up apples". Its also FREE.

I rely on these two programs daily to get through school and work.

yeah...I keep one: if it's short, in my head, a little longer on my hand & really long stuff/stuff to be done over a period of time is on my mirror (w/ white board markers)

not exactly a to-do list. i just have a traditional planner and an online calendar from yahoo for my weekly skeds and tasks.
Comment posted on June 1st, 2005 at 03:51 PM
I do not keep one every day. Sometimes, when I'm really busy, I keep one just using notepad or something simple on the computer.

It's all in the ole noggin. *taps head* But if what I plan to do involves a title or name, I do tend to write it down on paper.

I often couldn't be bothered to make an actual physical list either. Its all in the head and amazingly things are raely forgotten.
