Breaking the programming monotony
To break the monotony of scripting I've been doing over the past few days, I started tackling one of the biggest items on my to-do list: starting to get work on Tabulas 2.0 off the ground.
There are 6 main goals of Tabulas 2.0:
- Distribution of site functions on separate servers to accomodate increasing load
- Automated billing and the installation of a support system
- Redesign of the control panel
- Increased control over syndication
- Revamping of the gallery system
- Revamping of the styling system
The goals are a bit broad, I know. I'll probably focus my time on the first 3 goals more than anything.
So last night I spent a lot of time redesigning the new control panel. Well, it's not so much of a redesign as I originally had planned. I really do like the basic concept of the admin panel, and the colors are alright.
So basically I ended up rehashing the old design while focusing more on making more widgest to make the UI flow better.
If you check out a closeup of the tabs, you'll notice i made subtle changes to them ... adding a gradient and generally tweaking small details. I think they look a lot better now. I was never a big fan of the light-blue color as an "off" color.
You'll notice that the new entry addition page will be a two-pane system with most of your options on the left side. If you look closely, you'll also notice more options which are features that I intend on building. Multiple categories is a big plus, but that really should of been added during the first implementation of categories.
I won't get into too much detail into the new features, but .. yeah. The new control panel. I like it a lot. It's cleaner, but it can pack more info into a page.
Wee!
