The one thing I cannot stand about "Asian" website is how much "Asian Pride" bullshit goes into the posts.

They talk about the racial injustices of the past commited by the Americans (which I do not deny), then they go on and with statements like:
~as far as i'm concerned....HISTORICALLY speaking, U.S. did this shit due to there racist shit they do (umm...native americans, slavery, chinese exclusion act, iraqi war....).....think about it...the shit this gov. has done...take a step back, these motherfuckers are racists as hell....yeah, and god bless america...

Yeah! Go! Way to generalize the whole of American history to support your cause.

And what *really* pisses me off is that these people who argue points and ramble. This is how debates about the legitimacy of the atomic bomb turns into Bush-bashing.

I visited the YW link Will sent me in the previous post (thanks!), and I'm just simply appalled at the level of idiocy. Granted, some few do have good points but the majority of them like to group arguments into generalities with no research/background and then post it into a nice little flame.

Think of it as dumbasses with the Xangas, but instead of writing about their boring-ass lives, they're trying to make political commentary.

I saw someone talking about how "We had supplied Saddam" and "how we set-up the Taliban." Oh god. Please don't.

America did not trigger the war with Japan. The US did not look out in the interest of Japanese civilians when dropping those bombs, because our commitment was not to make sure the most number of Japanese civilians survived. Our commitment was to our troops and to American citizens. If a weapon saved American lives, then so be it. This wasn't Desert Storm II where we had pinpoint accurate weapons where we could simply hit military installments and avoid civilians. Even more, we didn't have the clear technical advantage or the locational advantage that gave us leeway to take into account of sparing innocent civilian lives. The goal was to end the 6 year war as fast as possible. Not to save as many lives.

Anyone who tries to make the atomic bomb dropping theory into some racially-motivated crime is a f'ing dumbass, which is what AzNs LOVE to do. Their reasoning goes as follow: "America commited racial crimes against the Japanese. America dropped an atomic bomb on Japan. Therefore, the dropping of the bomb was racially motivated." GOOD CIRCULAR REASONING.

No, really, I shouldn't be so critical. Part of it is general ignorance. There is a stigma associated with nuclear bombs that is generally unfounded. Would it have been more preferable that we used firebombs instead of nukes? I mean, the Tokyo firebombing murdered 100,000 people. Why dont' people complain about this with the same frequency as the atomic bomb?

There's a stigma associated with nuclear power in general. And people need to get their heads out of their asses and realize it.

War sucks, people die. There's no way around it.

a good book is to read is 'the war we could not stop'. i have only read half but it explains a lot of the politics involved, a lot of the history and includes interviews wit iraqis and US/British soldiers and commanders

it's the stigma against the majority, the minority always like to stick it to the majority, look at the columbine shootings and all that, it's always the little guys trying to find someone to blame. If there's a problem, just get your group together and blame the people with power. That was pretty incoherent, but I'm pretty incoherent.

can u explain that one again?
what are you talking about?
what was that bit about columbine?

I think what he's talking about is basically that not all Asians aren't about doing what I described - it is only a narrow minority who do act the way I hate.

His comparison to Columbine (if I'm not mistaken) is basically saying that I shouldn't blanket all Asians with my hatred since only a few of them are responsible (e.g. not everyone who plays violent video games is going to go murder a bunch of people ala Columbine)

well, you can look at it that way, but that's not what I was saying. wat I was saying was that, most people don't like to blame themselves, they always seem to want someone else to take responsibility for their own situation. Just because those jocks didn't pay no attention to the outcasts, and picked on them occasionally, didnt mean those damn trenchcoaters had the right to execute them. Yet, that's what happened. I understand that not all asians are about waht you talked about, it's just that those who do... really piss me off. They take their anger out on the group they think is responsible, whether they are truly responsible or not, and never stop to think about perhaps it's their own narrow mindedness that to blame. I mean, what is ignorance but a person refusing to listen to any other voice but their own. to me, that is just somewhat selfish, especially when you get into the issues like race and social status. It's late, i dunno if that made much more sense than what I had written the other day. But I agree with ya' roy.

Bush is an idiot......

I disagree. I think he has done a great job in office, keeping the country together during obviously our worst event ever 9/11. Sure, he has sputtered in Iraq a bit, despite my pro-war stand. And why wouldn't anyone say that the Japanese were racist towards White America when they bombed us to begin with? I know its untrue but an argument can be made, much like the atomic bomb being geared towards racism. It's just part of the double standard society that minorities want to live in. They want respect for being a minority which is fine and I'll give it to them. But give a white person some respect as well.

*disclaimer*- i am not stating that asians are racist, but there is a double standard.

i think bush has created a whole lot of problems and he probably wont be around in the future to sort them out. i think it was great liberating people in afganistan, but i also think that right now it is an absolute disaster. i think more should have been done to stabilise the country and rebuilding it. there are still so mnay refugees sitting on the border wit pakistan and until they return i will not be happy wit what has happened there.

in iraq that war isnt over it is still going on and we should not kid ourselves that it is over. just like with bin laden there is no evidence saddam is dead or gone.

I will agree the war with Iraq is farrrr from over. The actual liberation was the easiest part. Now we have to try to establish a government and keep the peace.
Comment posted on August 19th, 2003 at 11:23 AM
how can the place be liberated if people are still in fear about the war.
todays bombing proves that it is far from over and that some people in iraq will do anything to people they see as being foreign occupiers of there counrty

i get what your sayin roy. i have never thought that drpppin a-bombs was a racial thing. i mean for me the firebombing of tokyo was worse instead because of numbers.

hey you know with the war in iraq and the recent power failures, bush could just take the iraqis oil and power up america. i mean the iraqis dont really need it. they need water and food.

i think you're stupid...what the heck is the difference between xanga and tabulas anyway? yes tabulas may be better from different aspects but the whole concept is the same...the same "idiotic" people who write about their "boring ass" lives on xanga will do the same shit on tabulas...i could understand if the person who made tabulas (lets say THIS guy roy) were to say that (in which case he did) but...what the fuck ever...if you want to purge the world of idiots...look in the mirror dipshit

so, anyway. roy, i'm contemplating on whether to upgrade my package or not. considering the type of journaling that i do, do you think it'd be worth it? i'd really like your opinion.

well, mr. and ms. intelligent, thank you for proving my point very nicely. i suppose the difficult wording of my comment threw you guys off. notice the word "usually?" it means that not all people that use xanga are encompassed. in fact, i know many intelligent people that journal on xanga. but sadly, the majority of "xangans" are simple people that can't string three words together to make a coherent sentence. i was going to change my mind about the average intelligence level of xanga users, but no. you cancel it out. before you start making cracks at other people's views, stop and think about what you just read and are about to say on a public commentary. "look in the mirror" doesn't cut it, moron.

lol wow you have proved oh so graciously how stupid you are...tryin to prove that other people aren't "intelligent" enough for you...i dont think ANYone really cares about what you think about "xangans"...the only reason i commented is because i rather liked "XANGAN"'s comment...but since you want to turn this into some childish quarrel i'll just back out...however, dont go assuming some BS about people you dont know...mr "im so smart i can use intelligent five times in the same paragraph" there is something called a thesaurus if you dont have the brains...
