i have a question to those people who figured out how to rank images in the gallery...

i've been looking over at different methods of ordering; the first that came to mind was spaceinthewho's suggestion of a system used on yahoo with a dropdown menu (there's an image in her gallery here).

this is a pretty useful system, but it requires that people input image names for each file. and you don't know what image looks like what... but it works pretty nice.

then i've got the current system that uses the "input a number" system. it's a helluva lot more annoying, but it works a little better (faster to quickly organize the images if you know what you're doing).

i'm leaning towards implementing both - the dropdown menu seems a bit more user-friendly.

thoughts?

i gots lazy and never put it back in. you can input images using the [img:ID#] when you type your entry (i just never rebuild the "find an ID pop up page"

i'll add it back in soon.

i've been having issues with the input a number system... i'm not sure if its because i'm stupid & can't count or what...

but i think you know where my vote goes :)

i just find w/ inputting a number... i lose track :P (i was trying to organize my big album.... big being 40ish pics)

plus its annoying to have to delete all the previous numbers before i input new ones.

Reading your post ... I'm not sure you're using the input system properly (not your fault, I haven't documented jack)... if you want to input a picture in between existing images, you don't have to delete the previous numbers; simply use a decimal (1.5, 1.11111, 1.00001), then hit 'rebuild indices' and it'll reorder all your image ranks as integers.

'rebuild' indices will in general make all your rank numbers into incrementing integers if you ever get too confoozled.

but yeah, this is definitely not a good way to do things.
