i love 25th hour. an amazing performance by edward norton. i think i may buy the dvd some day when i'm not poor.

adaptation is pretty damn good too. nicholas cage really shines in this one ... playing two parts at once. and the plot keeps twisting and turning... makes for an interesting movie.

25th hr was mind-numbingly boring. i don't understand the purpose of any of the characters besides norton. they were worthless. and it's not like i can't appreciate a movies like 25th hr. it's just that this movie almost managed to put me to sleep 5-6 times.

I don't think that I really have a reason for not liking him.

I have been thinking for a bit why i didnt really like 25th hour and this is why. The movie was plotless. Nothing happened. Of course, I'm pretty sure the movie was supposed to just be about a person's last day as a free man and the contemplation and whatnot that comes with it blah blah blah. But in the end, i recall telling myself how bored I was... I think it would have worked better as a play. I hated all the 9/11 references they didn't have anything to do with Ed norton's story. In fact, the secondary characters had separate story lines that were pointless and did not serve any real purpose to the main one. The performances were really good, but once again, they didnt do anything. Also the main reason why I don't like it is because Ed Norton's character doesn't change. He has no arc so to speak, this is also why i think the movie is plotless. He is the same person at the end of the movie as he was at the beginning. At least that is the impression i got.

This is my opinion, of course, and it could be very very wrong i admit. Not to mention, my taste in movies can be very skewed. There is also the fact that each movie affects each person differently and also, i haven't seen the film in awhile but this is my story and im sticking to it.

movies don't have to have plot though, you just take them for what they are.
25th hour had plot though.
you knew he had one day left, you watched him live it, and the mission was complete, you saw the plot unfold.

i saw a day unfold...but in that day nothing happened. there was nothing but contemplation and showings of regret, and like i said it was probably made that way on purpose, but i like things to happen, and most importantly i want characters to change. i mean, im not saying its a bad movie im just saying i didnt like it as much because it didnt fit my taste thats all

I concur. Face/Off does rule. But, so does Raising Arizona. But, overall, Nick Cage licks balls.

I'm not disputing is acting talents. It's just that his characterizations and style just get on my nerves. The way he over-talks with his hands and enunciates his lines. I just find him annoying.
